Hi Tony,

I am a 42 y.o. Type II and have been riding for the last year. Last month I put 537 miles on my road bike and I will be riding in the Madison Tour De Cure at the end of this month as a Red Rider. Keep riding, keep riding!!

It has been a challenge to get into shape, but in the last year I have lost at least 25 pounds and hope to she another 10 this year. Diet and exercise have helped me get off most of my meds and reduce the one I still take to barely anything. As you start increasing your distance and time on the bike you will have to find what works best for you. I am constantly adjusting my diet and stick myself more often the more I ride.

I too am hoping to do RAAM and will proudly wear my Red Rider jersey when I do it. If you are looking for motivation check out the Team Type 1 website. Those guys are great and will show you what a diabetic can really do.

Peace!
